Calosoma alternans, commonly called the reciprocal caterpillar hunter, is a species of ground beetle that belongs to the family Carabidae. This species is distributed across Central and South America. It can occupy a range of different habitats, including tropical dry forests, tropical moist forests, grasslands, and cultivated fields. Adult individuals of Calosoma alternans prey on Alabama argillacea and Spodoptera frugiperda.
