This species occurs in a range extending from Southern Europe to Central Asia. Its adult wingspan measures 26–31 mm. Adults produce two generations per year, and are active on the wing from April to June for the first generation, and from July to September for the second generation. The larvae feed on the leaves and flowers of plant species from the genera Antirrhinum, Delphinium, and Linaria. Pupae from the second generation overwinter.
