About Callopistria rivularis Walker
This moth species, Callopistria rivularis Walker, has a wingspan of approximately 30 millimeters. In males, the antennae are slightly knotted and contorted at their middle section. The tibia and tarsi of the fore legs are covered in hairs, and the spurs of the mid legs are also hairy. The outer margin of the fore wings forms an angle. The head, thorax, and abdomen are dark in color. The fore wings are blackish, overlaid with grey clouding and speckled with ochreous color, and the veins themselves are ochreous. The fore wings feature a double ochreous subbasal line, and a similar, regularly curved ochreous antemedial line. Both the orbicular and reniform spots are elongated. The postmedial line curves strongly outward beyond the cell, and together forms a distinct question mark shape. Several prominent, irregularly arranged streaks are visible on the apical area of the fore wings. The tufts at the wing base and outer angle are long; the tuft at the outer angle is whitish. The hind wings are dark fuscous, and have pale-colored cilia. The ventral side of the wings is dark, with an obscure cell-spot and an obscure postmedial line.
