About Callophrys mossii (Hy.Edwards, 1881)

Callophrys mossii, commonly called Moss's elfin, stonecrop elfin, or Schryver's elfin, is a species of butterfly in the family Lycaenidae that is native to North America. Its range extends from British Columbia south to southern California, with isolated populations extending east to Wyoming and Colorado. This butterfly lives in habitats made up of rocky outcrops, woody canyons, and cliffs. Adults of this species have a wingspan of 22 to 28 mm. They are active from March to June in a single generation each year. The larvae of Callophrys mossii feed on species in the genera Sedum (including S. spathulifolium and S. lanceolatum), Sedella, Dudleya, and Parvisedum.
