Callophrys fotis, formally described by Strecker in 1877, is a species of butterfly belonging to the Lycaenidae family, which is commonly called the gossamer-winged butterflies. This species goes by a number of common names: early elfin, desert elfin, Fotis hairstreak, Strecker's elfin, and Arizona gray elfin. It is native to the southwestern United States, with its distribution covering southeastern California, Nevada, Utah, western Colorado, northern Arizona, and northwestern New Mexico. The wingspan of this butterfly ranges from 19 to 28 millimeters.
