About Callophrys avis Chapman, 1909
Callophrys avis, commonly known as Chapman's green hairstreak, is a small butterfly belonging to the blues family. It is found in the Palearctic region, specifically in Southwest Europe, Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia. Male and female individuals of this butterfly look identical. The underside of its wings is green, while the upperside is greyish brown. The green wing underside is marked by a mediodiscal white line, which distinguishes this species from the closely related Callophrys rubi. The caterpillar larvae of Callophrys avis feed on the plants Coriaria myrtifolia, Arbutus unedo, Salvia verbenaca, and Viburnum tinus.
