About Callionima grisescens Rothschild, 1894

Callionima grisescens is a species that exhibits sexual dimorphism. The ground colour of its forewings can be either pale bluish-grey or orange-brown. Orange-brown specimens somewhat resemble small individuals of the species Callionima calliomenae. The apex of the forewing is pointed. The outer margin of the forewing is not toothed, or only has barely visible vestigial teeth, and it is slightly concave just below the apex. On the forewing upperside, there is a black median band that crosses the wing; this band is often indistinct, and sits just basal to the narrow, transversely oriented silver spots. The hindwing upperside of Callionima grisescens is very similar to that of Callionima parce. It has a heavy black and white anal patch, with the space surrounding this patch coloured grey. This species is known to occur in Argentina, Paraguay, Bolivia, and Brazil.
