About Calendula tripterocarpa Rupr.
Calendula tripterocarpa Rupr. is a perennial plant that grows between 10 and 20 cm tall. Its leaves are mid-green and covered in short, sticky hairs. It produces multi-petaled flowers that are either yellow or orange. Young stems start out erect, but later bend down and spread across the surface of the soil. The outermost fruits of this species have flat wings, making them much broader than the fruits of Calendula arvensis. It flowers from autumn through spring. In Saudi Arabian folk medicine, Calendula tripterocarpa is a widely used medicinal plant, applied to treat minor cuts, burns, and skin irritation. A 2018 study on the species found it has high levels of phenols and flavonoids. Further research is still needed to confirm its traditional uses and identify all of its biological activities.
