About Calandrinia menziesii Hook.
Calandrinia menziesii Hook. (also referenced here as Calandrinia ciliata) is an annual herb that varies widely in size. It can grow as a small patch only a few centimeters wide, or reach an erect form close to 40 cm (16 inches) tall. Its leaves are linear or lance-shaped, measure 1 to 10 cm (0.39 to 3.94 inches) long, and have a slightly succulent texture. The inflorescence is a raceme that produces flowers on short pedicels. Flowers usually have five deep pink to red petals, each up to 1.4 cm (0.55 inches) long, with two sepals at the base underneath the petals. This is a hardy plant well adapted to many habitat and climate types. Where it occurs as an introduced species, it is classified as a minor weed.
