About Calandrinia breweri S.Watson

Calandrinia breweri is an annual herb that produces thick, hairless stems up to 45 centimeters long. Stems of this species may grow upright or sprawl along the ground. Its thick leaves range from oval to spoon-shaped and reach up to 8 centimeters long. Flowers bloom from March to May, arranged in a raceme inflorescence. Individual flowers are bright red to pink and each sits on a long pedicel. Most flowers have five petals, each measuring under half a centimeter long. The plant produces a capsule fruit that holds 10 to 15 seeds, which appear finely bumpy when viewed under magnification.
