About Calamagrostis nutkaensis (J.Presl) Steud.
Calamagrostis nutkaensis is a grass species with the common names Pacific reedgrass and Nootka reedgrass. It is native to western North America, ranging from Alaska to central California, and is mainly a coastal species that grows in moist areas including beaches and wetlands. It is a perennial bunchgrass that forms thick tufts of stems, which may grow over one meter tall. It produces several flat grass leaves that can reach up to one centimeter wide. Its inflorescence is usually narrow and thin. Populations can grow along coastal roadsides in Mendocino County, California, where they often receive fog drip under Eucalyptus stands.
