Burmagomphus laidlawi Fraser, 1924 is a medium-sized dragonfly. It has bottle-green eyes. Its black thorax bears greenish-yellow ante-humeral stripes; the sides of the thorax are greenish-yellow, marked with two narrow black stripes. Its wings are transparent, with a slight yellow tint at their bases. Its abdomen is black with distinct yellow markings. Segment 1 and 2 have broad dorsal yellow stripes that also cover their sides. Segment 3 has a yellow mid-dorsal carina and a large baso-lateral yellow spot. Segments 4 to 6 have basal dorsal triangular yellow spots and baso-lateral yellow lunules. Segment 7 has a broad yellow basal ring. Segment 8 has no yellow markings. Segment 9 has its apical half colored yellow. Segment 10 has no yellow markings. The anal appendages of this species are black. Females are similar in appearance to males. This dragonfly breeds in montane forest streams and rivers.
