This is Buprestis rufipes Olivier, 1790. Adult Buprestis rufipes range from 18 to 25 millimeters in length. This species is easily recognizable by golden yellow bands on its metallic green elytra. The metallic green color extends to the head and underparts. Its legs and part of the underparts are reddish, a trait referenced in its specific name. No larval host plants have been recorded for this species. Documented adult host plants are maple (genus Acer), beech (genus Fagus), blackgum (Nyssa sylvatica), oak (genus Quercus), and elm (genus Ulmus). Adult B. rufipes live in dead or dying wood.
