It is a perennial plant that reaches a height of 50 to 120 centimeters (20 to 47 inches). This plant is native to Xinjiang, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, and Russia. Its natural habitats are open forests, mountain slopes, and river banks.
