About Brownea macrophylla Linden ex Mast.

Brownea macrophylla grows as a tree, reaching up to 7 meters (20 feet) tall, and occasionally growing as tall as 10 meters (30 feet). Its leaves are pinnate, with up to seven pairs of leaflets, and can measure up to 25 centimeters (10 inches) long. The plant produces densely flowered inflorescences, whose individual flowers have orange petals. Its fruits are flat, oblong-shaped legumes that grow up to 20 centimeters (8 inches) long. Brownea macrophylla is native to Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela. In Colombia, it can be found growing at altitudes up to 1,350 meters (4,400 feet). In Panama, it grows in tropical forest habitats.
