About Brickellia desertorum Coville
Brickellia desertorum is a species of flowering plant in the daisy family Asteraceae, commonly known as desert brickellbush and desert brickellia. It is native to Mexico, Central America, the West Indies, and the southwestern United States, specifically the Mojave and Sonoran Deserts of California, Nevada, and Arizona.
This plant is a densely branching shrub with hairy stems that can grow up to 1.5 metres (4.9 ft) tall. Its small, oval-shaped leaves have toothed edges, and reach up to 1.2 centimeters in length. Clusters of flower heads form at the tips of stem branches, forming inflorescences. Each flower head is around one centimeter long, lined with phyllaries that may be greenish, purplish, or yellowish. The tip of each flower head holds 8 to 12 tubular disc florets. Its fruit is a hairy cylindrical achene 2 to 3 millimeters long, capped with a pappus of bristles.
