About Brickellia coulteri A.Gray
Brickellia coulteri, commonly known as Coulter's brickellbush, is a North American flowering plant species belonging to the Asteraceae family. It is native to regions of Mexico including Baja California Sur, Baja California, Sonora, and Oaxaca, as well as areas of the southwestern United States: Arizona, southwestern New Mexico, and western Texas. This species is a shrub that can grow up to 150 cm (60 inches) tall. It produces many small flower heads that hold pale yellow-green disc flowers, and does not produce ray flowers. Two accepted varieties are recognized: Brickellia coulteri var. adenopoda (B.L.Rob.) B.L.Turner and Brickellia coulteri var. coulteri. The species was first described and named in 1852 in honor of Irish botanist Thomas Coulter, who lived from 1793 to 1843.
