About Bradynotes obesa (Thomas, 1872)

Bradynotes is a genus of spur-throated grasshoppers that belongs to the family Acrididae. At least one described species is recognized within the Bradynotes genus: B. obesa, which is commonly called the "slow mountain grasshopper" and the "mountain lubber grasshopper". This species is distributed in North America, specifically in the western United States and northwestern Mexico. Six subspecies of Bradynotes obesa have been documented: Bradynotes obesa caurus Scudder, 1897; Bradynotes obesa deplanata Hebard, 1919; Bradynotes obesa kaibab Hebard, 1919; Bradynotes obesa obesa (Thomas, 1872); Bradynotes obesa opima Scudder, 1880; and Bradynotes obesa referta Scudder, 1897.
