About Bradburia pilosa (Nutt.) Semple

Bradburia pilosa, commonly called the soft goldenaster, is a North American flowering plant species in the Asteraceae family. It is native to the south-central United States, where it occurs mainly in the southeastern Great Plains and lower Mississippi Valley. Its native range covers the states of Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, Tennessee, Mississippi, and Alabama. Additional populations have been recorded farther east, from Florida to Virginia, but these are believed to be introduced rather than native. It grows in habitats including disturbed roadsides and pine-oak-juniper woods. This species is an annual that grows up to 80 cm (32 inches) tall, and it produces yellow flower heads. Unlike the disc florets of the closely related Bradburia hirtella, the disc florets of Bradburia pilosa are fertile.
