About Brachyscome microcarpa F.Muell.
Brachyscome microcarpa F.Muell. (common name forest daisy) is a spreading or slightly upright perennial herb that reaches up to 58 cm (23 inches) in height. Its stems are glandular-softly hairy, and occasionally smooth. When present, leaves at the base of the stem are rounded to spoon-shaped, either pinnate or scalloped, and grow up to 7.5 cm (3.0 inches) long with a petiole. Leaves borne higher on the stem are narrowly egg-shaped to wedge-shaped or circular, with scalloped to pinnate margins and linear lobes up to 8 mm (0.31 inches) long; they are occasionally palmate, and also have a petiole. Flower heads are borne singly, 3.5–8 mm (0.14–0.31 inches) in diameter, on a hairless peduncle up to 18 cm (7.1 inches) long. Bracts are narrowly egg-shaped with rounded tips and jagged margins. Petal color is most often white or bluish mauve. Flowering takes place from October to November. The fruit is an achene, which is egg-shaped to wedge-shaped, flattened, brown to black, warty, hairy, and 1–1.8 mm (0.039–0.071 inches) long. This species grows in well-drained forest locations in areas north of Newcastle and in Queensland.
