About Brachyglottis bellidioides (Hook.fil.) B.Nord.

Brachyglottis bellidioides (Hook.fil.) B.Nord. has dark green leaves with deep-set veins, a long stalk, and a yellow flower head with petals. This species is endemic to the South Island of New Zealand. It grows in alpine and subalpine habitats. Its thick leaves push aside the leaves of other plants, particularly the pincushion grass Agrostis muscosa. This action creates a small hollow, where Brachyglottis bellidioides leaves can access sunlight and its stem can grow.
