About Bossiaea sericea I.Thomps.

Bossiaea sericea I.Thomps. is an erect shrub that typically grows to a maximum height of 2 meters (6 feet 7 inches), and has round cross-section stems. Its leaves are roughly round to heart-shaped or egg-shaped with the narrower end at the base, and most measure 2–4 mm (0.079–0.157 in) long by 1.5–5 mm (0.059–0.197 in) wide. The leaves have triangular stipules 0.7–2 mm (0.028–0.079 in) long that are longer than the leaf petiole. The upper leaf surface is roughly hairless, while the lower surface is covered in fine white hairs.

The flowers of this species are 5–7 mm (0.20–0.28 in) long, arranged singly on a 1–3.5 mm (0.039–0.138 in) long pedicel. Crowded, broadly egg-shaped bracts 0.7–2.2 mm (0.028–0.087 in) long are located at the base of the pedicel, and narrow egg-shaped or oblong bracteoles 0.7–2.5 mm (0.028–0.098 in) long sit near the base of the sepals. There are five sepals that measure 2.0–3.5 mm (0.079–0.138 in) long overall, joined at the base to form a tube. The upper two sepals lobes are 0.9–1.5 mm (0.035–0.059 in) long and approximately 0.8 mm (0.031 in) wide, while the lower three lobes are shorter and narrower.

The petals are yellow, sometimes with pink tinges along the edges. The standard petal grows to about 8 mm (0.31 in) long, the wing petals are 1.5–2.0 mm (0.059–0.079 in) wide, and the keel petal is 2.0–2.5 mm (0.079–0.098 in) wide. Flowering occurs from December to January, and the fruit is a broadly elliptic pod 6–10 mm (0.24–0.39 in) long. The pod is covered with rust-colored hairs, or a mix of pale and rusty hairs.

This bossiaea occurs in north-eastern and far eastern Victoria, far south-eastern New South Wales, and the Australian Capital Territory. It grows in alpine and subalpine areas at altitudes above 800 m (2,600 ft), in heath and woodland habitats that are often bordered by grassland.
