About Boronia spathulata Lindl.
Boronia spathulata is a glabrous shrub that reaches a height of approximately 1 metre (3 feet 3 inches). It bears well-spaced leaves that range from narrow elliptic to broadly egg-shaped, measuring 10โ20 mm (0.39โ0.79 in) in length. Leaves growing near the ends of branchlets are usually roughly cylindrical in shape. Its flowers are arranged in cymes with a short peduncle. Each individual flower sits on a red pedicel that has small bracts at its base, and the pedicels of side flowers measure 3โ4 mm (0.12โ0.16 in) long. This species has four triangular to egg-shaped sepals 2.5โ4 mm (0.1โ0.2 in) long, and four pink, egg-shaped petals 6โ9 mm (0.2โ0.4 in) long. The eight stamens are hairy, each anther has a small white tip, and the stigma is only slightly larger than the style. Flowers can be present in most months of the year. This boronia grows in sandy soil near swamps or rivers, and also occurs in jarrah forest. Its range extends between Perth and Augusta, and eastward to Israelite Bay.
