About Bombus griseocollis (De Geer, 1773)
This species is Bombus griseocollis (De Geer, 1773). Queen individuals measure 2.1 to 2.3 centimeters in length, with an abdominal width of approximately one centimeter. Their head and face are black, with scattered yellow hairs. The thorax is covered in yellow hairs. The abdomen has black bands on a yellow background, with a black posterior and a black ventral surface. All legs are black. Workers are smaller than queens, sometimes measuring less than one centimeter in length. They share a similar color pattern to queens, but may have a brown-yellow band around the abdomen. Males measure about 1.5 to 1.9 centimeters in length, with an abdominal width of about 0.7 centimeters. They have very large eyes that span around two thirds of the head’s width. Yellow hairs cover the face and thorax, and the abdomen is banded with yellow, yellow-brown, and black. Eggs of this species are white, robust, and slightly curved. They have an average length of 2.91 mm, with a total length range of 2.8–3.1 mm and a diameter range of 0.8–1.00 mm.
