About Boiga drapiezii (Boie, 1827)

Boiga drapiezii is known to have two distinct color phases. The green phase has a marbled green body and a more robust, wider head. The brown phase has a much more slender body, marked with orange brown triangle-shaped bands across its body. This species requires urgent taxonomic review, as it is possible that undescribed subspecies are yet to be discovered and formally documented. Boiga drapiezii occurs across Borneo, Indonesia, Peninsular Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. Its preferred natural habitat is forest, found at altitudes ranging from 80 to 900 meters (260 to 2,950 feet). Boiga drapiezii reproduces via oviparity, meaning it lays eggs.
