About Bloomeria clevelandii S.Watson

Bloomeria clevelandii is a perennial herb that grows from a corm. It produces between 2 and 8 narrow leaves, each reaching up to 15 centimeters in length. An erect inflorescence grows from ground level and can reach up to 70 centimeters tall. This inflorescence forms an umbel shape, holding up to 30 flowers on pedicels that are 2 to 3 centimeters long. Each flower has six yellow tepals marked with green veins, and each tepal grows up to one centimeter long. This species is threatened by the destruction of its coastal habitat for urban development, as well as by negative impacts from vehicles and trash dumping.
