About Blastesthia tessulatana (Staudinger, 1871)

Blastesthia tessulatana, commonly known as the cone tortricid, is a moth species belonging to the family Tortricidae. This species is distributed in the Near East, North Africa, Portugal, Spain, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Albania, Bulgaria, Greece, as well as the islands of Malta, Sicily, Sardinia, and Cyprus. It has a wingspan ranging from 13 to 17 mm. Adult moths are active between April and August each year. The larvae of Blastesthia tessulatana feed on plants in the Cupressaceae family, including Cupressus sempervirens, and they specifically feed on the cones of their host plants. Larvae are present from September to April.
