About Bidens polylepis S.F.Blake

Bidens polylepis S.F.Blake is a North American flowering plant species belonging to the Asteraceae family. Its native range covers south-central Canada, specifically the province of Ontario, as well as the eastern and central United States, where it extends from Michigan and New Jersey south and west to South Carolina, New Mexico, and Colorado. This species is an annual herb that grows up to 100 cm (40 inches) tall. Each branch of Bidens polylepis can produce up to 3 yellow flower heads, and every head contains both disc florets and ray florets. It grows in marshes, flood plains, and disturbed sites. Bidens polylepis is very closely related to Bidens aristosa, and the two species are known to intergrade across a broad geographic area. Due to this close intergradation, some authors have classified the two as a single species.
