Berberis aetnensis C.Presl is a shrub belonging to the family Berberidaceae. It was formally described and established as a distinct species in 1826. This species is native to Southern Italy, specifically the regions of Campania, Basilicata, Calabria, Sicily, and Sardinia, as well as to Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro. Its scientific epithet aetnensis refers to Mount Etna located in Sicily, which is the feature the species is named after.
