About Bebearia orientis (Karsch, 1985)

Bebearia orientis, commonly known as the eastern palm forester, is a species of butterfly in the Nymphalidae family. Its range covers Somalia, Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, Malawi, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Its natural habitat is forest. This species is very similar to Bebearia senegalensis. Adult Bebearia orientis are attracted to fermented fruit. It is likely that adults can be found in flight throughout the entire year. The larvae of this species feed on Phoenix reclinata and Raphia farinifera, and they probably also feed on Cocos nucifera.
