About Batocnema coquerelii (Boisduval, 1875)

Batocnema coquerelii is a moth species that belongs to the family Sphingidae. This species has been recorded in Madagascar, the Aldabra Islands, and the Comoro Islands. It resembles Batocnema africanus, but the overall wing pattern of Batocnema coquerelii has a much more developed set of bands and patches. On the upperside of its forewing, there are six conspicuous costal patches and stripes, instead of the two found in Batocnema africanus. Of these six markings, the closest to the wing tip is a small, triangular, subapical marking.
