About Batocera rubus (Linnaeus, 1758)

Batocera rubus, commonly known as the mango longhorn or rubber root borer, is a species of beetle in the Cerambycidae (longhorn beetle) family. It was described by Carl Linnaeus in 1758, in his landmark 10th edition of Systema Naturae. This species is known to occur in Japan, China, Java, India, Laos, Myanmar, Malaysia, the Philippines, South Korea, Taiwan, Sumatra, Thailand, and Vietnam. Its recorded host food plants are Ficus carica, Ficus elastica, and Mangifera indica. It is a medium-large sized longhorn beetle, with a total body length measuring 20 to 65 millimeters from head to tip.
