About Batesia hypochlora Felder, 1862

Batesia hypochlora (Felder, 1862), the only species in the genus Batesia, has a wingspan reaching 85 to 95 millimeters. The upperside of its wings is blue; a submarginal band matching this blue color surrounds the outer margin of the hindwings. It also has a large pink patch on its forewings. This butterfly species is distributed in upper Amazon areas of Brazil, Ecuador, and Peru.
