Balsamorhiza incana, commonly called hoary balsamroot, is a North American plant species belonging to the tribe Heliantheae within the family Asteraceae. This species is native to the northwestern United States, where it grows in Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Washington, and Oregon. It is an herb that can reach up to 70 cm (28 inches) in height. It produces yellow flower heads, which typically grow one per stem, and feature both ray florets and disc florets. It can be found growing in grassy and rocky locations, most often in conifer forests.
