About Baliosus pectoralis (Baly, 1864)
This is a morphological description of Baliosus pectoralis (Baly, 1864). The head extends moderately between the eyes; the vertex is smooth, and bears a longitudinal groove. The antennae are the same length as the combined length of the head and thorax. The thorax is nearly twice as broad at its base as it is long, with narrowly margined, crenulate sides; the sides are nearly straight at the base, and become narrowed and rounded toward the front. The upper surface of the thorax has a transverse impression across its posterior disk, and a transverse excavation on the basal lobe. The basal lobe is broadly truncate, and has a piceous spot on each side. The central area of the disk at the front is nearly impunctate, with fine strigose texture; the sides of the thorax have coarse, deep rugose-punctate texture. The scutellum is large and triangular. The elytra are much broader at their base than the thorax. The humeral callus is thickened, and does not rise above the elytral surface; instead it extends horizontally, is subacute, and does not reach past the lateral border of the elytron.
