Baeckea brevifolia (Rudge) DC. is a shrub that typically reaches a maximum height of 1 metre (3 feet 3 inches). Its leaves are elliptic to narrowly oblong, triangular in cross-section, 1.0โ2.3 mm (0.039โ0.091 inches) long, 0.7โ1.0 mm (0.028โ0.039 inches) wide, and sessile. Its flowers are up to 7.5 mm (0.30 inches) wide, arranged one per leaf axil on a pedicel 0.5โ2.5 mm (0.020โ0.098 inches) long, with bracteoles 1.0โ1.5 mm (0.039โ0.059 inches) long. It has five reddish, lobed sepals with lobes 0.5โ1.2 mm (0.020โ0.047 inches) long, and five white to pale pink petals 1.9โ2.5 mm (0.075โ0.098 inches) long. There are usually nine to fifteen stamens, and the style is approximately 1.0 mm (0.039 inches) long. Flowering occurs mostly from July to September, and the mature fruit measures 1.7โ2.0 mm (0.067โ0.079 inches) in diameter. This species is a common heathland shrub that grows mainly on sandstone soils in coastal areas and nearby ranges of New South Wales, between Woy Woy and Milton.
