About Babiana odorata L.Bolus

Babiana odorata L.Bolus is a perennial flowering geophyte from the genus Babiana that grows in fynbos and renosterveld vegetation. This species is endemic to the Western Cape of South Africa, where its distribution spans the area from Piketberg to Durbanville. It occupies a total range of 3500 square kilometers. Large portions of the species' habitat have been lost to grain cultivation and suburban expansion, particularly in the regions around Malmesbury and Darling. Invasive introduced plants also pose an ongoing threat to the species' remaining subpopulations.
