Babiana dregei Baker is a plant that grows up to 15 centimeters tall, with an erect, branched stem. Its leaves are sword-shaped, slightly pleated, and have thick veins and thick margins. Each leaf has a harp-shaped, ridged tip. The flowers range in color from deep purple-blue to magenta, have white splashes, and bear three lower tepals. This species is pollinated by long-proboscid flies. It flowers between August and September.
