About Autographa ampla Walker

Autographa ampla, commonly known as the large looper moth, raspberry looper, brown-patched looper, or broken-banded Y, is a moth species belonging to the family Noctuidae. This species was first formally described by Francis Walker in 1858. It is native to North America, where its distribution ranges from Newfoundland west to the Alaska panhandle. In the southern part of its range, it extends south to central California, Arizona, and New Mexico in the west, and to North Carolina in the east. The wingspan of adult Autographa ampla measures 38 to 42 mm. Depending on location, adult moths are active in flight from June to August, and this species produces one generation per year.
