About Austroderia toetoe (Zotov) N.P.Barker & H.P.Linder
Austroderia toetoe (Zotov) N.P.Barker & H.P.Linder is a species of very tall grass. When in flower, it can reach up to 4 meters in height. Its leaves are prickly, and range in colour from straw-yellow to light green. Its culms can grow up to 4 m tall, and the inflorescence section of the plant is distinctly plumose. Recorded chromosome counts for this species give 2n = 90. This species is endemic to the North Island of New Zealand, where it occurs from western Waikato south to Wellington. It has also become naturalised on Waiheke Island. It is most commonly found growing in freshwater swamps and other wet areas.
