About Austrocactus coxii (K.Schum.) Backeb.
Austrocactus coxii (K.Schum.) Backeb. is a plant species that belongs to the genus Austrocactus in the cactus family Cactaceae. It is native to southern Argentina and southern Chile. This cactus grows as short, columnar stems that reach up to 60 cm in height and 5 cm in diameter, and has 6 to 10 tuberculate ribs. Its central spines are hard, straight or slightly hooked, range in color from light brown to whitish, and can grow up to 4 cm long. It has 6 to 10 thin interwoven radial spines, each of which reaches a maximum length of 1 cm. It produces diurnal red flowers that grow up to 3.5 cm in diameter.
