Austroaeschna pulchra, described by Tillyard in 1909, is a species of large dragonfly in the family Aeshnidae. It is commonly known as the forest darner. This dragonfly lives in streams and rivers across eastern Australia, ranging from the area around Brisbane south through to Victoria. Male Austroaeschna pulchra are brown to black dragonflies with yellow, green or blue markings, while females are brown with yellow markings. Austroaeschna pulchra closely resembles another dragonfly species, the Carnarvon darner, Austroaeschna muelleri.
