Australothis rubrescens, commonly known as the Indian weed caterpillar, is a species of moth that belongs to the family Noctuidae. This species was first described by Walker in 1858. It is distributed across the entire continent of Australia, including the island state of Tasmania, and also occurs in Papua New Guinea. Its larvae have been documented feeding on the following plant species: Sigesbeckia orientalis, Ixiolaena brevicompta, Podolepis longipedata, Hibiscus, Nicotiana tabacum, Solanum dioicum and Stylidium productum.
