About Augochloropsis viridula (Smith, 1853)

This species, commonly known as the northeastern sweat bee, has the following physical characteristics. The fringe hairs of Augochloropsis viridula are approximately the same length as its metasomal hairs. Punctures on its terga are separated by a distance of two to four puncture widths. Its range is primarily concentrated in the Midwestern United States and Canada, where it overlaps in distribution with the similar-looking Metallic epauletted-sweat bee. Augochloropsis viridula is not found as far west as Oklahoma, Kansas, and Nebraska.
