About Auchmis detersa (Esper)

Auchmis detersa (Esper) is a moth species belonging to the family Noctuidae. It was first described by Eugenius Johann Christoph Esper in 1791. This species ranges from north-western Africa, through southern and central Europe, to Anatolia, Iran, and Afghanistan. It also extends through Siberia as far as Lake Baikal. The wingspan of adult Auchmis detersa measures 40 to 51 mm. Adult moths are active in flight from June to September each year. Young larvae of this species feed on Berberis vulgaris. The larvae overwinter, and then pupate in May of the year after they hatch.
