Atta vollenweideri, commonly known as the chaco leafcutter ant, is a species of leafcutter ant. It is a New World ant belonging to the subfamily Myrmicinae, and is classified under the genus Atta. This species falls within one of the two genera of advanced attines, which are also called fungus-growing ants, in the tribe Attini. Mature colonies of this ant species contain approximately 4 to 7 million individual ants.
