This species, scientifically named Atrytone delaware (Edwards, 1863), has the following physical description. Both female and male individuals have yellow-orange wings marked with black borders and dark brown veins. The black borders are broader along the front and back edges of the hindwing. The underside of the wings is yellowish orange, with no markings other than a narrow dark border on the forewing. The wingspan of this species ranges from 2.5 to 4.3 centimeters.
