Atriplex watsonii A.Nelson ex Abrams is a member of the Chenopodiaceae family. This species is a perennial herb with a gray-green to whitish coloration. It produces tangled slender stems that are less than one meter in length, and grows in mat-like structures that can reach up to 3 meters wide. Its leaves are thick, fleshy, and crusty, reaching up to 2.5 centimeters long, and are generally oval in shape. This plant is dioecious, meaning individual plants produce either only male or only female flowers. Male flowers grow in clusters or long spikes, while female flowers are borne in small clusters located in the leaf axils.
