About Atocion armeria var. lituanicum (Zapal.) Niketic & Stevan.
This variety of the plant Atocion armeria, formally classified as Atocion armeria var. lituanicum (Zapal.) Niketic & Stevan., grows to heights between 20 and 70 centimetres, which is equal to 8 and 27 and a half inches. It produces numerous leaves that are 2.5 to 5 centimetres (1 to 2 inches) long, shaped elliptic, oval, or narrowly oval, and have a smooth texture. In the British Isles, this plant blooms from June through October. Its pink or lavender flowers grow in clusters at stem ends, and these clusters may be arranged either somewhat openly or compactly. The stem is hairless (glabrous) or slightly hairy, and has sticky areas, particularly just below the flower cluster. It is native to Europe, where it grows naturally in roadsides and weedy locations. It has been introduced to North America, where it has escaped cultivation and become an invasive species. It is a perennial plant suited to USDA plant hardiness zones 5 through 8.
