About Atlapetes leucopterus (Jardine, 1856)
The white-winged brushfinch, with the scientific name Atlapetes leucopterus (Jardine, 1856), is a finch-like bird with grey and white plumage. Its plumage shows some regional variation: individuals in the northern part of its range have a completely black face and a chestnut-brown crown, while individuals further south have white and light-colored crowns. Distinct white wing patches set this species apart from the Bay-crowned brushfinch. This species occurs in Ecuador and Peru. Its natural habitats include subtropical or tropical dry forest, subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest, subtropical or tropical moist montane forest, and heavily degraded former forest.
